Ready Player One By Ernest Cline
In good shape and arrived on time. Clineâs dystopian future is a hairâs breath from reality. Itâs engagingly written from a teenage boyâs perspective. But there is a sad aspect that is perhaps the bookâs message we are turning into immobilized zombies immersed in internet worlds to escape reality. The My best friend and I met in ninth grade (that's freshman year for those of you reading from south of the border). I was seated on the floor, my back to my locker, reading a D&D guidebook. My future roommate, then just a stranger in torn jeans and a baggy plaid shirt, English I was drawn into this novel mostly by co workers who built up the story as a cool movie to watch. Knowing there was a book before the movie I figured I would pick it up, read it and then see the movie. I am very glad I did. The story taking place mostly in a Ready Player One My Thoughts: 1. Just like a real videogame, the plot had me addicted from the start. For me, being a medium gamer, I LOVED all the old classic 80's references. It's geeky, sci fi and fun, all in one! 2. The author does an amazing job building such an christian-romance-historical
The story reads like a naive teenage perception of what a dystopic virtual reality future would be. but really is a playful homage to video game/movie/music pop culture. It's a bit cringe as to how much it goes into all the themed lore (especially all the 80s stuff) and Ernest Cline AN AMAZING BOOK. For a short description on why I love this book, It's a gaming/pop culture teenage nerd book! What's to love for a geek such as myself. It's written well enough with great flow and its obvious that the author poured all his childhood fantasy in this I'd never heard of Ernest Cline; sent me here after a PKD binge which has led me to two main findings: 1) 's recommendation system is a bit off and 2) After a quick search, I found out Cline is _not_ a teenage boy himself, which undoes the most generous theory

Its the year 2044, and the real world has become an ugly place. Were out of oil. Weve wrecked the climate. Famine, poverty, and disease are widespread.
Like most of humanity, Wade Watts escapes this depressing reality by spending his waking hours jacked into the OASIS, a sprawling virtual utopia where you can be anything you want to be, where you can live and play and fall in love on any of ten thousand planets. And like most of humanity, Wade is obsessed by the ultimate lottery ticket that lies concealed within this alternate reality: OASIS founder James Halliday, who dies with no heir, has promised that control of the OASIS and his massive fortune will go to the person who can solve the riddles he has left scattered throughout his creation.
For years, millions have struggled fruitlessly to attain this prize, knowing only that the riddles are based in the culture of the late twentieth century. And then Wade stumbles onto the key to the first puzzle.
Suddenly, he finds himself pitted against thousands of competitors in a desperate race to claim the ultimate prize, a chase that soon takes on terrifying real world dimensions and that will leave both Wade and his world profoundly changed.
