Greek Village Cooking: The Short and Happy Tale of Pippo Alampo By Sara Alexi

Greek

A joyful and tasty adventure!
Sara never disappoints! This book was a bit of a new twist on her typical style. Delving a bit into characters revisited along with the celebration of new characters finding family and connections to personal histories. All of this is wrapped up with tantalizing recipes that make you shout OPA!. I had the additional pleasure of reading this while in Greece, so as I made my way through this book, I stopped at the local tavernas in my own village sampling their version of the noted traditional delicacies. I always depart Greece with a bit of sadness and heavy heart, but am comforted in the fact that I can visit anytime by immersing myself in a Sara Alexi story. Yamas! Sara Alexi has created an original style cookbook here with popular Greek recipes amongst the pages of a captivating Greek Village story about a teenage boy named Pippo Alampo. Get favorite family version recipes from the villagers we've met in The Greek Village Series while wandering through the village with Pippo as he searches for someone who might have a connection to his roots. Has anyone heard of the man from the village he has only heard wild tales about? Read about the surprising adventures of this young man as he meets the villagers while collecting dishes of food for one big village party celebration in the end with love and romance thrown in for good measure. Opa! I love every single book that Sara Alexi has written and I've read them all! Like others in the Greek Village series, this one paints a tale of specific characters in the village, some of whom we've met before in other books but now get details and a new character is introduced. While I partly bought the book for the recipes (read kindle version first, then ordered paperback to keep recipes at hand easier) , I was glad that there was to the story than just the food! This story was delightful and about this pair is revealed in future books, I 'm sure. As far as the recipes, I wish they gave portion yield each sounds like it makes a lot and wonder how many servings in each I need to halve each at least. English We now have a new resident in the Great Village. And for a while he is a mystery and his story is hidden. And we luckily are treated to each of our familiar Village family members to their favorite and best recipes the best part is that we can make them ourselves now! As we learn about Pippo and how he is connected to the Village we are treated to the wonderful recipes. I don't know which one to start with. I think the lemon potatoes Yes I think I'll start with the potatoes! I thought it was brilliant of Sarah Alexi to incorporate the Greek recipes into the story line, ( which was a great love story!) I adore Greek food and when Sarah mentioned the different foods that were served in her other books it would make my mouth water and I wondered how I could make them myself. Thank you for this book,Sarah now I can make those fabulous Greek dishes! :)

In this visit to Greece we encounter young love, old love, village friendship, a long lost family member and Greek recipes. I probably won't make any of these delicious looking dishes, but after reading this lovely story, I felt it was a great idea to include them along with a photo of the finished dish.Well done Sara!. Sweet story in a wonderful series, plus loads of authentic recipes. I love these characters and the setting. Highly recommended. Love how the recipes tie into the storyline. Not only does it bring back my Greek village favorites like Juliet and Stella, but we get a new character, Pippo, and vicariously follow his budding romance. Look forward to finding how things go for his romantic endeavors. inspirational Another delightful book from Sara alexi. Like being on a relaxing Greek holiday..this time meeting up with friends old and new, An extra dimension is added with the scrumptious recipes ! (two of which I've made already) that are made by the villagers. These wonderful dishes are then enjoyed at a party for Stella and Mitsos's anniversary. Pippo is a new character who quickly becomes part of this delightful company , and I'm sure we'll meet him again. A charming, heart warming, and 'appetising' read.. What is not to like? One of Sara's light hearted stories of Greek Village life. It is Stella & Mitsos' anniversary (their third!! How time flies!) and Mitsos turns to a newcomer to the Village, an Italian boy who is searching for his relatives and who brings some good ideas for the perfect gift. Of course the entire Village gets involved (would it be an Alexi book without?). And of course our lad meets a lass (ditto). Each chapter turns on a recipe, which is included at the end. I for one am heading for the kitchen as soon as I finish this dinner's going to have a decidedly Greek feel for the next few days. This book is a treat on so many levels. Great recipes, great story, old friends, and the emotional takeaway: when you find love, grab it with both hands, is good advice no matter what your age. Greek Village Cooking: The Short and Happy Tale of Pippo Alampo

I make no secret of the fact that Im not the worlds best cook!

Luckily for me most traditional Greek dishes are easy to make and forgiving of my mistakes

Quantities are not critical, and most of the recipes presented here can be made in many different ways, with any number of local variations. If you dont have a particular ingredient to hand, dont be afraid to experiment who knows, you may come up with something new and delicious! (If you do, be sure to write and let me know!)

Ive included a selection of my favourites simple, tasty and wholesome treats that never fail to please.

Oh, and of course, I couldn't resist writing a story to accompany the recipes

Enjoy!
