‘The Lost World of Genesis One’ was an interesting and challenging read for me. I found Walton’s previous work ‘Ancient Near Eastern Thought and the Old Testament’ a little less thought provoking but also substantive. His ‘Survey of the Old Testament’ co authored I find the theology put forth in this book to be faithful to the Biblical text and incredibly satisfying. Dr. Walton persuasively argues that the cognitive environment of Genesis was first and foremost functional/interested in order rather than material grimm This book stirred up quite a bit of controversy when it was published in 2009. It is this background that he brings to the text, and from this perspective that he advances his ideas. In essence, the core claim of the book is that As many reviewers attest Professor Walton's book presents a view of Genesis 1 that is interesting and possibly incisive for the debate between the Bible and earth sciences. I'll not repeat the praise and I'll second the premise that it is a must read for those seeking to Kindle, Paperback, MP3 CD
