☆ The Ultimate Hitchhikers Guide (Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy, #1-5) ✓ PDF Enjoyed More Editions by ✓ Douglas Adams eBook or Kindle ePUB free

Finally I've read this popular witty classic sci-fi. The series is definitely worth praise although the last story - Mostly Harmless - seems too dark and depressive. The best parts were authors hilarious narration: the plot couldn't stand a chance without it. Douglas Adams OK. Where do I start with this one. It's a doozy. Let's first of all say that I think this is one of the best uses of the English language. It's right up there with, well, anything else. I mean, just read the sentences. He is a lot like Tolkien, in that he makes the words themselves the art. But where Tolkien will take English and make it into a lush, broad canvas, Mr. Adams turns English into a plaything. Let's put my last sentence another way: The Hitch Hikers Guide to the Galaxy is the literary equivalent of juggling chainsaws. You read it through the first time, and you have no freaking clue how he did that with those words . OK, we got that out of the way. How bout the story now? Sure...

Trust me, it’s good A fascinating and thought-provoking sci-fi thriller. I consider myself very good at anticipating plots, yet E.M. Swift-Hook’s Trust A Few surprised me pleasantly more than once. The pacing was brisk, and I found myself losing a few hours in the intricate story. There’s a lot of dialogue, but it flows naturally and often serves as a breather between action scenes. The core theme here is trust, as hinted by the title. Trust and betrayal drive the story forward in a dystopian future where a single misstep means you’ll be “dropped” in an instant. The protagonists are complex and their struggles real. The author cleverly moves away from simplistic good/bad labels and instead immerses us in a world of difficult (sometimes impossible) choices and morally grey conundrums. The world itself if dystopian and meticulously detailed. The level of detail shows that this story is part of a series, but it’s self-contained and can stand alone as it is. Nonetheless, by ...

[Peter Kreeft] ↠ The Philosophy of Tolkien: The Worldview Behind The Lord of the Rings [Philosophy Book] PDF ☆ Read Online eBook or Kindle ePUB

Image
The book started with a great promise to me: A discussion about Tolkien's philosophy, which is certainly not in line with today's popular worldview and values. But the book quickly descended into a Christian and Catholic empty propaganda. The writer apparently wrote this book not in order to discuss and think about Tolkien and his worldview, but rather to proselytize his own Catholic faith. I would have expected a philosophy book to raise more questions than answers; here the exclamation marks rule. Mid-way the book gets really repetitive with the same themes repeating over and over. In some instances, even the same quotes were quoted again. But yet again, when your goal is to preach, repetition is necessary. Paperback Exploring Tolkien's world was not just interesting (that all-purpose meaningless euphemism). It was not even just fascinating. It was sheer joy. For we knew that here we had touched truth. This book was a homecoming. This book broke our hearts... The author d...

A sweet romance with a touch of heartbreak, humor, and faith. It's so nice to read about characters who actually go to church and pray about things. Having said that, it isn't overly preachy and not every character is religious. Also, this is my next audiobook project and I can't wait to start recording! Here's hoping all that heart and comedy comes out in my narration! 0736918736 I loved this book!! So funny and wholesome!! Highly recommend!!! Too Good To Be True Had to skim towards the end. These characters are SO ANNOYING! And when it got to the point of Tru and Ren (horrible names btw) bickering over their both equally annoying mothers and Ren deciding to be fickle and suddenly fall in love with a friend (who's not a believer but she tries to justify it) I just had to skim. This chick needs to get it together! English I love Christian chick-lit! This book was great! 4 stars! When one door closes, another opens! The main character Rennie learned this many times ...
